Singing fireman
D had invited me to go with her to a charity lunch in an new "old" tithe barn raising funds for Action Medical Research for children. The large building is only about fifteen years old but it has followed the lines exactly of an ancient tithe barn, built out of Hamstone with beautiful wooden rafters inside. Two sisters in a neighbouring village raise thousand of pounds for charity by organising large events and this was a Diva Lunch! Girls had taken time off work to come along and there were about 180 people there - ten to a table. Half way through our meal the fire alarm went off and three firemen with yellow helmets rushed into the barn, there was a minute of apprehension until we realised they were laid on as part of the programme and, not stripping off as someone thought, continued to sing and "idolise" women on their way as they walked around the room. I shuffled into my seat but unfortunately D next to me was approached and made a fuss of! In the end they got us singing, dancing, waving our arms about in time to the music and by the end we were all relaxed and laughing.
