Day 7, Haltwhistle Walking Festival
Today I was responsible for the smooth running of one of our Specialist Walks, the Geology walk, "A Roman's Eye View of the Wall". Richard Holmes led this for us and opened our eyes to many things we could see all around the section from Steel Rigg to Hotbanks Farm. The geology of this area is fascinating, but for me the real interest is seeing how this affected/affects the way man interacted/interacts with the land.
I hope I will notice a few more features after today.
It was very damp and very windy, but there was no sustained rain, more like being in a cloud.
Here is my good friend, John, taken when we had walked north of the Wall. In the distance you can see the shape of the Whin Sill.
