Life's Little Moments

Bee mine...

The temps got over 70F today which meant that we had some late season pollinators buzzing around the garden, including several honeybees. And since winter is fast approaching, I figured I'd be smart to blip 'em while I've got 'em!

Had a great walk this morning at Kittatinny SP with the Audubon group - not quite as many birds as last week, but some sparrows that we don't often see here, including Vespers and Savannah sparrows. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pics, but it sure was fun to see them.

While I was out treking around the meadows and lakes, hubs was doing a 25 mile bike tour to benefit United Way. After our busy mornings, we treated ourselves to lunch at our local diner - basil, tomato and feta omelet for me and pancakes for hubs. Tasty!

Lots of cedar waxwings still in the woods on our property and this morning they were joined by some robins and starlings, busily picking the berries off the cedars. While in the understory below, the yell0w-rumped warblers were busy gathering insects. Good times!

The nut trees on our property seem to be producing a plentiful crop this year - which makes all the critters happy. I delivered an order of nuts to the chippies who live in the rock wall - a treat that seemed to meet with their approval.

Five shots from today posted on Flickr, starting HERE (ant, bee, chippie, Shadow darner dragon, and warbler). The dragon was a bonus on the walk today - very cool to see one this late in the year!

Happy Saturday, people!
