Geese as lawnmowers

Just down the road from us a neighbour has 3 geese, a sheep and a goat as his ecological lawnmowers and manure producers. Today I looked over the fence to shoot this blip of his geese in action.

Rather than using a traditional lawn mower to keep his grass under control, geese are the perfect answer. Goats and sheep are also good for this task, but they need more control and supervision and are more hassle.

Geese will graze the grass (not the weeds - as they prefer good grass and lawn) but they do require some supplemental feeding at night. Plus protection at night from foxes.

Having a gander also keeps them happy.
