Medici

I haven't been uploading anything as of late, but that's also because I haven't taken many pictures. Past couple days has been nothing but walking around to the same places, shopping, eating, and napping. It's been very, very hot..making it hard to go exploring because we've been everywhere near us and to go further may mean one of us will pass out ha. We've been taking a lot of naps just to escape the heat and get rested up.

Today we went to the Medici Palace...it was their summer villa- which was beautiful! The gardens in front were really pretty and the view was too. It was quite a hike to get to it though, but definitely worth it...besides that we weren't allowed to take pictures inside- very disappointing.

It annoyed me though that our Italian prof was giving us a tour of this beautiful mansion and this girl is standing right in front of her on her blackberry looking at facebook...save that for when you're shopping or sitting in your apartment. It's been so nice to basically not have a phone...at home I would never let my phone leave my side, but here, I've forgotten it in the apartment and didn't even notice...most of the day I have no sense of time and I only use it to call my roommates or other classmates. It's so relaxing and you get to enjoy your surroundings so much more.

Today we couldn't decide what we wanted to make for dinner...we eat pasta, pizza, and every other kind of carb every day so we wanted something different but couldn't all decide on something...so I said why don't we have breakfast for dinner? It cost us little under 2 euro to make omelets and potatoes...soo good! Here's the surprising thing...I made my own omelet. If you know me, that's a huge deal because I've never cooked anything in my life- I've watched omelets be made a thousand times at school and figured I could do it and I succeeded!

I think this trip is really going to be good for me...freeing me from texting, learning how to cook, living on my own, finding my way around a foreign country, experiencing a different culture. It's only been a week and I've learned so much... I can't imagine what else is in store!

Tomorrow we head to Cinque Terre...I'm beyond thrilled to go :]

Ciao <3
