Turning the pages of history

I have talked to my students a lot recently about whether progress is a good thing as I find myself increasingly alarmed by how much is done via technology and what the legacy of this will be. These books all belonged to my Dad and each represents some part of my academic life and career. In addition to this, I just love the fact that I can turn the same pages my Dad did from his childhood to his adulthood. I'm not sure a Kindle can ever carry the same weight of fondness.
