I went down to the estuary today - I timed it to catch the high tide so that I could set the hide up and be ready for the tide to fall and expose the mud. Unfortunately, it takes about three hours from high tide before the mud even begins to show! So I sat for a looooong time with not a lot happening. Still, at least next time I can time it so that I don't have to wait.
Eventually, a few gulls came by and a pair of egrets flew around on the opposite side of the river. A little grebe swam past, just in front of me, but the shots came out as a silhouette. In the end, I went for this shot of a little egret coming in to land.
Next time, I'll arrive three hours after high tide!
