An Audience With....the gas heater.

If your a soggy boot, a waterlogged jacket, a dripping sock or a rucksack with a damp patch the best hang out is in front of the gas heater!

This is in Hvanngil, the mountain hut on the Laugavegurinn hiking route, after a fierce storm with torrential rain. We were trapped here for two nights due to the river, just a ten minute walk from here being impassible. It's not bridged so wading across in the usual way was too dangerous, the wardens couldn't even cross in their huge jeep.

We went out to look at it in the rain, saw how angry and swollen the river torrent was and went back to the hut for another night, hanging all our clothes back up to dry again!
