Walking on the Moon.

Finally, after two nights imprisoned at the Hvanngil Mountain Hut we got across the river, and carried on south to Þórsmörk, rewarded again with a more calm, clear and dry day.

Not long after the river crossing we found ourselves in this strange landscape, no vegetation save for a light moss on the higher slopes. The valley floor was just sand with stones. Amazing place to be.

25 km later and we were walking through a bushy forest!

Just typical of the amazing changes in scenery to be had on this stunning hike through Iceland, the Laugavegurinn Hike, form Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk.

Hard work at times in the tough conditions we had, but adventurous and rewarding.
