Lochan, near Horn Head
Had a glorious day. Strolled round Dunfanaghy in the morning and after lunch headed to Tramore Strand. It's a glorious secluded beach, well worth the walk through the dunes.
On the recommendation of Brendan, owner of the campsite, I detoured to see the stone circle and watch the blow holes (Mcswyne's Gun and the two pistols) in action. Thankfully not throwing water and stones 100 feet into the air, only about 20. The noise was thunderous, but I only managed to catch a wee puff of spray despite waiting for some time. I think the tide must have been going out as they seemed to stop completely.
Continuing back along McSwyne's Gun Loop walk I came across the lovely lochan with views across to Muckish Mountain just as the light was changing to bath the hills in gold. Made the long tramp back through the darkening woods worthwhile.
