Segregated Cemetery

This peaceful place us a remnant of a shameful past, the era of racial segregation. This is one of two Acorn Branch cemeteries. This one, dating back to the 19th century, was for black people. The white cemetery was a couple of miles away. At least for the folks resting here, such distinctions no longer matter.
