the sun shines on the righteous

The hospital where I work is on the site of what was one of the huge Victorian asylums. Tho massively changed now, there is a nearby small parish church which used to serve the asylum. Its graveyard is therefore out of proportion to the church as many thousands are buried there, but it is now largely wooded and very higgledy piggledy, but more beautiful for being so. A couple of years ago I was shocked to learn that anyone dying in the asylum was buried here but in an unnamed grave, even more shocked to discover that this practice actually only ceased in 1995. We have since held reading ceremonies for every name from archived records. I am not religious in any way, but this place is very soulful.
This is a shot of one of the Victorian monuments through the spreading trunk of a similarly aged tree. The sun had just come out and it threw the dark stone and the trees in a really strong light for just a few minutes. Blipping must be good for your health as it made me take a break in a pretty stressful day!
