Standing in the rain
On an absolutely miserable rainy afternoon I had decided to shoot one of the blooms on our Edscalonia Donard Beauty bush which is near to our Pampas Grass. I thought the pampas grass made a nice backdrop for these colourful but sodden flowers. I tried a few shots hand-held but the low light levels meant it was really difficult to get a short enough shutter speed for a 200mm lens without zapping up the ISO to ridiculous levels.
Fortunately my 200mm lens has a nice deep lens hood which meant it was OK to take time shooting in the rain so out comes the tripod and the camera mac. Whilst I could take my time I did need to be aware that there was some wind movement so long exposures were not a option.
