Mum & Dad's Ruby Wedding Anniversary
We drove down to Ruswarp near Whitby today for my Mum and Dad's Ruby wedding anniversary. It was four and a half hours driving time and we had to stop more than normal because Orla wasn't very happy about sitting in her car seat for long periods of time. It was okay to start with when she was asleep, but she got very bored later and let us know about it.
We stopped at Hutton le Hole to give Orla a break (and me a break from driving) and arrived later than planned at Ruswarp. Dad had hired a place called 'The Station House' which was the old station master's house and was right on the platform so trains went by the window every now and then.
When we got there, we all had some of the annivesary cake that Anne had made. It was very good. Then I did Orla's bath and bottle whilst Anne prepared dinner. Dinner was mussels in white wine and garlic to start followed by herb crusted cod fillets with roast potatoes and green beans.
Before dinner we had a toast to the Ruby wedding anniversary withthe bubbly Charles and Kirsty had brought.
I didn't manage to get Orla asleep because she wasn't tired having had a long sleep in the car. So she came down and joined us for dinner and sat in her high chair.
