Crab apples
It was one of those bitty days - taking Alex to Orton pit, taking Ben to the dentist for a couple of small fillings, snatching a walk round Thorpe Wood with Rosie, collecting Alex from Orton Pit and report writing. By the end of the day I felt more than a little frazzled!
I'd been hoping for some fungi to photograph, but they're still fairly sparse despite all the recent rain. Though many dead logs are sprouting a variety of forms, the woodland floor is mainly barren. However, the crab apples have dropped their fruit, and parts of the wood are redolent with the smell of fermenting apples. Their golden colours shone out amongst the damp fallen leaves.
