Haws
Had a great morning with Rachel from the Wildlife Trust, catching up on all sorts of things and obtaining some background information for a talk that I'm giving in November. After lunch there was time for a quick walk at Ferry Meadows with Rosie before getting on with the the more mundane requirement of food shopping.
The hawthorn berries seem particularly prolific this year - which is perhaps just as well as flocks of migrants have already started streaming in from the continent. The pyracantha berries in the garden are being rapidly eaten by continental blackbirds, and we even saw a redwing in the garden - very early Hope this isn't a sign of a hard winter
