Hoeing and mowing
This morning we continued raking sticks in the vineyard and had the added pleasure of Griffin's company, who we were watching while Sue does some baking. Understandably, he got bored very quickly, despite us trying to keep him interested with silly games and encouraging him to tell us one of his weird and wonderful stories, so we head back to the house where Sue has freshly baked muffins ready for us :) After tea break, we go into the garden and have a lesson on using the ride on lawn mower from Wim. John does most of the lawns, but I also take the mower for a quick spin around, it is great fun! While John mows, I get to hoe! all of the flower beds need going over, which keeps me busy. It has been a really hot day, so after work, we reward ourselves with a beer and lie out on the freshly cut grass in the sunshine looking at the vineyard and the hills, what a perfect end to the day. Wim has his daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren (one is a 3 week old!) staying the night. He is busy doing some electrical work in the house, so says we can take the car into town before dinner. We get the essential pillow and head out. The town is buzzing by Martinborough standards and we have to walk around to find a quiet pub. We later find out that the place we end up is the dodgy bar in town, how typical! Anyway, we enjoy a quiet pint, then head back for dinner. Wim has lots if wine on the go tonight and I end up drinking far too much and end up quite drunk, oh dear!
