River Weaver and the MV Chica

Having planned the walk last Saturday it was time to lead the walking group, twelve of us today. I had wondered whether we would get wet but the rain held off and, contrary to the forecast, actually improved as the day went on and it ended up nice and sunny. It was certainly warm and jackets were very quickly removed.

We did do the extra bit to look at the dry dock and the smallest rise and fall lock in the country. Everyone seemed to enjoy the 6.4 mile walk and the points of interest along the way. Our second coffee stop was at Dutton Locks so we had time to read the history of the locks and river.

This photo is the river just after Dutton Locks and the wreck of the MV Chica, surrounded by mystery and folklore. I guess it makes a good story. Not long after this we arrived back at the Acton Swing Bridge, my blip from last week, where we enjoyed a lovely meal at The Leigh Arms. We were very impressed with the food and the service.

We were lucky with the weather. I've only been home an hour and we're in the middle of a thunder and lightning storm! It doesn't feel like the same day.
