Focus and Fun
G is five years old. She drew this picture, and wrote the words, with her mother's help on words she couldn't spell herself.
Her brother C is eight. He wants to be an architect, and even though hungry, preferred drawing houses, each one more complex than the previous, to eating his pizza at lunch.
They know how to use their larger muscles, too, and enjoyed doing just that at the Bellingham Farmers Market, where G tested a hula hoop that matched her clothes, and C's technique got a larger one really spinning! Two new hula hoops went home with them today, thanks to their generous mother, a dear friend of mine and former work colleague, who drove up from Seattle with her children for the day.
And the fun didn't stop there -- after exploring the farmers' market and having a leisurely lunch at La Fiamma Pizza, we went to Hovander Homestead Park, where we enjoyed seeing a few farm animals and the children could run and enjoy the playground equipment, including this popular tire swing, propelled by their own energy and an occasional push from their mother or me.
Despite the cool, foggy weather, it was a lovely day, with time between activities for the adults to catch up on each others' lives, as well as the pleasure of watching these two bright, active children relish each new adventure!
(Sorry for the lack of comments today -- out all day and the evening as well, so I'll catch up with you on Sunday!)
