Back to the lineout again

Unable to referee I'm having to do some match observing of referees in action. Try as I might it is difficult to get good shots of open, action play and equally as difficult to get dynamic shots of basically static situations like lineouts and scrums. This too is all very static, with the exception of the jumper, all feet are on the ground and very little action.

The lineout has changed considerably since I played. Lifting was not allowed, here it is what propels the jumper into the sky. Teams don't always compete for the ball in the lineout - you'll notice that the opposition are not jumping for the ball. The lineout has been reduced to a means of restarting the game after the ball has gone into touch, with the side throwing in the ball retaining possession unless they can't throw straight or throw it to the place where it is needed.

I now have a report to write about the ref, who did OK by the way.

Enjoyed the evening too, cooked a vegetarian tagine in the morning and peeled some 30 apples for another tarte tatin.
