Bear With Me

3years 352days

An INCREDIBLE but busy day today!! We are very pleased to have discovered our trip is timed to coincide with the Awesome Arts International Children's Art festival. So we went in to the Perth City Centre to do some of the things it had to offer. We started out with a preschooler's play, Bear with Me. It was fabulous. Interactive, a bit kooky, a lot of fun, and very well aimed at the little ones. They all three adored it. Monkeys and Puppy alike.

After the show, we took them for lunch in the centre. A mixture of mexican wraps, italian pizza and australian salad and everyone was happy. We headed back over to the Cultural Centre for more arts festival activities. The children ran round a trail, they performed for cameras that were projecting to a big screen, they watched a wildlife show on the screen. We then went towards the WA museum, stopping at the outdoor musical play area first.

In the WA Museum, there were even more activities as part of their school holiday programme. The children made junk monsters, saw the snakes and other reptiles, climbed a giant piece of asteroid. They were fascinated by the glow in the dark rocks, by the dinosaur skeletons, and by the displays about and by the Aboriginal people. They really have soaked up all the "culture" that has been thrown at them the last few days, even more than I expected.

There was just enough time for a very yummy ice cream before we walked steadily back through the city centre for the final stop of the day. Tea at Jamie Oliver's restaurant. It was fabulous. The kids were so well catered for - their menus were on those 3d viewers that were around when I was small, and they thought it was brilliant. Everything from the kitchen, the veg & fruit prep area, and the breads area was on show and with staff who were happy for the children to come see what was happening, so each of them had a walk with me to watch it all. When the food came, it was really lovely. I have never seen Katie polish off a bowl of food so quick. It was a gigantic bowl of spagetti bolognese and she ate it insanely quickly. Jamie's was a definite success!
