Last Day

Originally, we had planned a fairly steady day today, not doing a great deal. But we changed our minds completely. Absolute u-turn. We ended up with a busy but very very fabulous day.
This morning we headed to Innaroo one last time to get prints made for Katie's scrapbook that she's kept wonderfully all holiday. I had a little cry in the middle of Kmart as I sat selecting the photos! We bought a couple of bits more for bringing home. The girls had a big morning tea before we headed for a second trip to Perth Zoo. It was wonderful. This time we took them into the Australian Bushlands, so Katie could say goodbye to the kangaroos and the koalas, they both obliged very kindly by being really close to her so she could do so. She was very excited as she got to see her first Tasmanian Devil and he put on a really good show for her. We also got to see the Sun Bear right up close too. An extra reason for going to the zoo was to buy a piece of elephant art for Katie's new playroom! We also managed to get a full set of australian animals biscuit cutters, ready for the Asutralian themed birthday party that she has decided she is having!
After the zoo, we went to get max from daycare. We took them all for a final swim. Katie's swimming was absolutely incredible today. She was hurling herself into really quite deep water and swimming very confidently on her front for a long distance. Previously, she's swum confidently, but has preferred to stay within her depth. Today she broke that barrier.
At home, it was a very quick bath and a big tea, before early birthday presents from Aunty Lauren, Uncle Chris, Max and Eden. My lucky lucky little girl now has a gorgeous Pandora bracelet and kangaroo charm to remember her incredible holiday with.
Today was the perfect end to our trip. There were a great deal of tears when 7.30 came and our taxi pulled up. She slept for almost all of the night flight to Dubai. Leaving Australia was a really hard thing to do.
