Once bittern ...

This morning I took mum for a hip x-ray - she's been 'ow'-ing recently when she sits down, so the doctor ordered some tests including this x-ray.

It was a lovely sunny afternoon (on and off!), so I went to Far Ings nature reserve, hoping to see the marsh harrier.

As I was watching the marsh harrier to my left - I was suddenly aware of flapping to my right - and there was this bittern flying by!

I was so excited - though of the ten or so shots I took, only a couple were in focus!

And this (I hope!) is one of them ..
