The Artsy Fartsy Book Club Luncheon

I was awake, showered and setting the table by 7:30 a.m. this morning in preparation for my luncheon. Everything was good to go before I left for art class at 10 a.m. I grabbed my art stuff and my purse and went to leave when the doorknob caught my purse strap and yanked me back. I took it as a sign to just slow down and relax.
Art class was fun and productive as usual and I left just a little earlier than usual so that I could put everything out on the table and open the wine before my guests arrived. It all went very well and it was great to spend time with everyone. We managed to fit in a good discussion about our most recent book, The Husband’s Secret and we chose a new book to read titled Someone, by Alice McDermott. I am looking forward to starting it.
Everyone brought a little something today including some good wine and two wonderful cakes. One cake that Diane prepared was a carrot cake that she decorated with flowers from her garden. Of course by the time I decided to photograph it, we um, well we had eaten half of it already! Ha-ha. They are such a warm bunch of women with such big hearts. Everyone loved meeting Tessa. Tessa was very happy being scooped up and fussed over. You would think she was quite used to socializing. She even had her photo taken with one of my guests. As a little favor for each of my guests to take with them, I had these cookies made. The girl who makes all the fancy cakes and cupcakes for my grandchildren’s birthdays was nice enough to make them up for me.
After everyone left and the grandchildren arrived home, all eyes were on the cakes left over from the luncheon. Thankfully, the rest of the family ate leftovers for dinner so I did not have to prepare another meal today.
