Mimosa Ground Cover

The mimosa, a groundcover, is also called the sensitive plant, as when you touch the leaves, they close up. This is a specimen you don't often see, and I was pleased to find it in the parking median at our local library in Holmes Beach on Anna Maria island. I was giving a talk today on your tropical lifestyle landscaping and was pleasantly suprised to see quite a few native plants in the parking lot. The mimosa has a cute little powderpuff type flower and is a charming ground cover. It can be tempermental to grow, but it looked pretty happy where it was sited.
