Where has all the time gone?
Well, here I am again in sunny Ayr! OK so it's not sunny but that doesn't matter. I haven't been here for ages; the last time I was here was before my trip to Edinburgh and my London training course a couple of weeks after that.
It will make life a lot easier when I get things sorted out so at least I'll be in the same country as my mother. I'm not sure she'd fancy going down to Brum if I did get run over by a bus or an aeroplane landed on the house etc. It would save a lot of travelling up and down the country too. It would be good if I could get up here before Alex Salmond has his way and puts up the equivalent of the Berlin Wall to keep the English out. Also, the travelling is fun but can be tiring.
I met plenty of people in London who think nothing of sitting on a train for five hours in total per day travelling to and from work. It's not like they get paid for their travelling time. It just all makes for very long days and at last I understand how people can balance on one leg like a stork going round corners, up inclines not holding onto anything while reading a book. I have to hold on to something just to stand still on a flat surface or lie down sometimes!
I realise that a lot of this is down to practise gained from years of doing the same old routine. It's also down to another reason - the need to pack everything into every waking moment and not waste a second. That is one of the curses of modern living. The only time you can really call your own and take control of your own mind is when you are asleep or locked in the bathroom! Marvellous! No wonder so many of us - not all, I hasten to add before someone shouts 'Speak for yourself!' - are burnt out gibbering wrecks.
I remember having a hotel bathroom in London years ago which was so small you could sit on the loo, clean your teeth over the sink and wash your feet in the shower all at the same time! Now that was a great bathroom to have if you were in a hurry I suppose.....
Oooo I almost forgot! Finances is what causes most problems in today's world. Anyway, on the way up here today I got an email from the National Lottery HQ telling me there was exciting news for me and I had to log on to my account to find out what it was. I only put on £4 a week via an iPhone app to avoid looking like a desperate old bag gripping my stubby biro in WHSmiths. Anyway, with quivering fingers I managed to log on at the third attempt. I could hardly believe what I saw!
I am now A WOMAN OF SUBSTANCE! Don't worry, I'll still do my blips and take photos of pigeons and squirrels in more exotic locations in future. The world is now my oyster after having won a HUGE £2.50! Hmmmmmm.....
