To Batten Down the Hatches

I like to listen to the shipping forecast first thing in the morning. Every day one is taken for a magical mental journey around the British Isles from the Humber to Portland Bill and onwards.

Today however I listened with attention because it is not very often that one is referrred to the wind speeds on the Beaufort Scale of storm force 10, violent storm force 11 and Hurricane force 12. Today however there were plenty about along the south coast of England.

Sitting in the Irish Sea it is the inshore waters of Great Orme's Head to the Mull of Galloway in which I have a particular interest. We are just due to the normal force 7 or 8 from the West.

You can see from the picture of these trees taken this evening, that they are well suited to exactly that. Unless of course we are about to have a Michael Fish moment....
