Today's the day ......................... to be warned

I imagine there will be lots of blips this evening talking about the dire weather conditions that we are likely to experience in the coming hours - overnight and into Monday. One thing is certainly sure - we have been warned!

A little (cynical) bit of me wonders, however, how much of the media attention is because the part of Britain that is most likely to be effected - is the south of England? I'm sure there are other parts of the UK - say Orkney, for example - that will get winds in excess of 80 mph on a fairly regular basis and nobody makes a fuss about that.

I do, of course, hope that everyone - in all parts of the UK - manages to get through the next 24 hrs unscathed. This is Kendal just before everything started going a bit pear-shaped .........................
