Storm St Jude
This morning Storm St Jude arrived very much on time at around 5am here and had mostly blown over by 8am. Around 7am we saw our Rowan tree uprooted by a strong gust. Mr MC and daughter #1's bf rushed out to upright it and tether it to the fence with strong rope. We can only hope it survives! The sky was, unsurprisingly, full of contrast and drama: the biggest struggle in taking this blip was holding the window open in the teeth of the wind!
Today has seen homes and property seriously damaged and some 60,000 lose power. More than 100 trees have fallen on rail lines alone and all transport systems affected in the London area and beyond. Tragically there has been loss of life as well and my thoughts are with all affected families.
