After the storm!

We were warned of a great storm due to pass through this area overnight and the immense damage that it could cause. It did indeed pass by and some areas of the southern half of the country did see a lot of damage, however other than a lot of rain overnight and some very strong winds, especially around 3am we seemed to escape much more lightly than I had imagined.

The weather did continue through the morning with rain on and off and fairly rapidly moving clouds. Bright one moment and very overcast a few minutes later. I took this picture of the back end of one such batch of clouds (do they come in batches?) and have cropped off some of the buildings and applied a sepia tone, but otherwise have not edited the detail at all. I think it shows some of the menace, the sting in the tail as it were, of the storm which in the main has passed by.

How often we underestimate the on-going effect of life's storms. I guess we need to keep our eyes and hearts open so that we are ready to support those for whom the main storm may have passed, but who may still experience the odd disturbing squall.
