Tame reptile

This species of lizard is known as the "Blue Tongue" because of its formidable looking tongue that it thrusts out when in danger.
I waited for a long time for this to happen but alas he failed to come up with the goods.

These lizards are short and fat and rather lethargic in their movements. This makes them easy prey to birds particularly the Kookaburra.
Although we reside in a suburban area, these lizards frequent our garden most of the year and usually feed on slugs and snails.
