Happy Halloween!
D admiring our pumpkin - he's now taken it to his room as a nightlight (yes we will keep an eye on it!). His first real experience of Halloween - he understands it all a bit more - ghosts go 'wooo', pumpkins are smiley or grumpy or scarey, and small people come to our door in funny costumes and with painted faces to get sweets. We didn't go out trick or treating, but on the way home passed a house that had been decorated American style - cobwebs all over the hedge, lanterns everywhere, a smoke machine and spooky soundtrack. Classic Halloween though, no horror film characters. D was fascinated by the sight and stood looking at it for so long that although he wasn't dressed up and hadn't knocked on the door, the family inside came out and offered him the bowl of sweeets - he was very pleased with his lollipop!
Managed to scrape out more of the pumpkin flesh this year and I'll be trying a spiced pumpkin cheesecake recipe with that :)
