Myrtle the Turtle
Meet Myrtle the Turtle. Local celebrity just outside the harbour at Galettas in Tenerife. She likes checking out divers and frequents a dive site called 'Rays' where you can also see eagle rays and atlantic rays. She is also known as Myrtle the psychotic Turtle as she is so unafraid of divers. This shot was taken at the beginning of the dive. She came right up to us and seemed to say hello to each of the five divers. She stayed with us for about five minutes then went off to hassle another group of divers. We then went off looking for Rays -found some - and a small wreck. On the way back to the boat I saw two huge moray eels nestling in a crevice and the biggest ball of fish I have ever seen. I love just floating in among the shoal. Meanwhile, as I played with the Roncodores, Ellie ( daughter) thought her dad had kicked her in the head with his fin, but no, it was a friendly headbutt from Myrtle who had returned to say au revoir at the end of our dive.
Sadly that was our last dive of the holiday. 24 hours in the sun before flying back to a Welsh winter.
