It's Saturday so it must be rugby again
Went to watch the referee of another one sided game where the home side ran out 80-7 winners. The match was played in typical English conditions, or should I say, British conditions. Driving rain and strong winds as the game kicked off followed swiftly by bright sunshine.
I had a few shots to choose from, but couldn't decide between these two. Both show that rugby is a game for all sizes and ages, there is a place for everyone who wants to have a go, thin or bulky, young or old, everyone is welcome. Contrast the legs of the ball carrier on the left hand side with those of the prop in the other shot. You'll notice that this player cannot get his shirt on at all and indeed later on he removed his under layer, but I'll leave that to your imagination.
He was on the losing side but played the whole game with enthusiasm and impact, particularly in the scrum as you can imagine. It was also good to see a former pupil playing as well. My last school in Gillingham was not a rugby school but towards the end of the school (it closed) in the late 1990s the PE teacher started a rugby team and it is pleasing to see that at least 3 from that first and only team are still playing.
