Crawlspace
A brilliant idea for a Saturday outing: take the wean on his first tram-ride (it's called the LUAS here) into Dublin. So that's what we did. He was a little awed by it at first: the strangers, the noise, the huge windows so unlike a car. But he was into it too, fascinated by the rails, the passing trams (with waving people), houses, roofs, gardens, fields, trees...the banked, visual stream in spate.
The day was dull and damp, so there wasn't much point in getting off at Stephen's Green. More fun to stay on board and get tugged back into the suburbs (for lunch in Lemongrass in Blackrock). We found a seat up front near the driver, and this time he really enjoyed it, beginning to explore, wanting, no doubt, to race to the other end of the carraige. Eventually he found his perfect compartment, a crawlspace between the seats, his very own.
