changes

Every day is an adventure with our oldest son who is 15 years old. There are moments when we still see the little boy we knew for so long -- thoughtful, polite and laughing. But more often than not, that boy is replaced by the surly teenager who is trying hard to create space between himself and his parents. I know logically that this is a normal phase of growing up, but at times the emotions and gut reactions overtake logic. We will get through these changes together; he is a great boy and is well worth the effort.

And no, this photo is not my son :). Walking home from our weekly visit to the farmer's market I saw this boy sitting alone on a bench, face buried in his hands. I had to turn back and capture the moment. I wonder what emotions he is dealing with?
