Our Apartment in Barcelona
Today we flew to Barcelona for the first part of our holiday. We had all morning to pack, but once we had done it I realised that one of the bags was over 20kg and so we had to open them up again and redistribute the weight.
Orla spent the morning with Gran and Papa. Papa came with us to Edinburgh airport so he could drive the car back and pick us up when we get back.
Our flight was scheduled to take off at 2:30 but once we were through security we were informed it would be delayed. The only information was that there would be another update in an hour. Once that hour was up we were told to expect more info an hour later. Then after that hour was up we were told to expect another update in an hour. This continued for four hours. It transpired that our plane had failed a couple of checks and had to be fixed. The main reason for the delay was all the safety checks.
We managed to keep Orla entertained though, she loved crawling round the big spaces in the departure lounge and having us both to play with. It was of course also fun for us so it wasn't as frustrating as it might have been. She was very entertaining.
After fighting to stay awake on the plane, Orla drifted off and slept most of the three and a half hour flight. It landed about 10:45 and we were quickly through baggage reclaim. I phoned the guy from Friendly Rentals to arrange to meet up at our apartment. The taxi took about 20 mintues. The late check in cost us 30 euros.
The guy that met us was Scottish and he showed us round the apartment. It is in an traditional 'old town' style apartment block but has been recently refurbished.
I asked the guy whether there would be any shops still open and he gave me directions. Once he had left I set off to get some bread, milk and tea bags, but I went in the wrong direction and never found a shop. I gave up and decided that I would go out again early tomorrow.
