Palapa Painting
This time of year is extremely busy in Zihuatanejo. The tourists are just beginning to arrive (flights from LAX have increased from twice a week to every day, other cities have started their seasonal direct service) and our beach is getting more crowded on a daily basis. What this means for local merchants is that they are frantically getting everything spruced up before the masses arrive in a couple of weeks. This guy was staining the ribs of a soon to be refurbished palapa across from our beachside breakfast spot this morning. It seems the two major storms that we experienced did a number on many palapas along the beach. All the beachfront hotels and restaurants have had to replace/repair at least some of their palapas, keeping workers like this very busy.
