Gibbard

Today I received 50 free 1st class stamps (perk of the job each Christmas) & a DVD about a person who's influenced me a lot over the years, which is leading me to blip over the next 3 days 3 people who I've admired the most in my life.
Each person has majorly affected me through different parts of my life.

In my 20's it's been this guy: Ben Gibbard

My 2 favourite songs of all time are sung by Ben (Song 1) (Song 2) the front man of two different bands Death Cab for Cutie & The Postal Service. (one of the songs linked will be the first dance song at my soon to be wedding to Miss Poondash, while the other is just not right for a wedding).

Music affects people especially when their discovering themselves & Death Cab for Cutie affected me majorly at this time. When I say I admire a rockstar it's hard to explain it's not for the obvious reasons, it's the humble, layback, retrospective person behind it that I admire & I like to think he's rubbed off on me cause of it.

One of the biggest things to come from this was my fascination with North West Pacific bands, notably from Washington state - which reopened my obsession with the city of Seattle & everything related to it, from Nirvana to the Mariners. This is only backed by Ben Gibbard's love of his hometown, when I say reopened that stretches back to my younger days when I lived for basketball with my team of choice at the time the Seattle Super Sonics, who sadly no longer exist.

Music is a big part of my life & I listen to it around 9-10 hours a day. While I'm passionate about it for some reason I like to keep it to myself, with the only person seeing this side of me being Miss Poondash.

She knows the extent of my admiration of Ben Gibbard too, I drag her along to the gigs of my strange music tastes & we were once at a Death Cab gig when she's basically passed-out & had to be led out the venue via the fire exit by guards. Did I follow her? No Ben Gibberd was playing!
