I want to believe..

Solberg

Following on from yesterdays blip someone who affected me through my teens was a Norwegian called: Petter Solberg.

Being a boy I naturally had posters of cars on my walls, unlike others my posters were not dream cars they were rally cars, as a kid Subaru Impreza's were the cars to have. In high school I always said I'd have a sausage dog called Roll & a WRX STI Impreza, so when I was old enough I went out & bought not 1 but 2 sausage dogs, calling 1 Roll.
My desires for the car died as I grew out of the idea once I was finally old enough to afford one & found myself more interested in a 'cheap running car' so now my manhood is lived out driving a Fiat 500.

But back as a child I was obsessed with the WRC rally & was lucky to have it on my doorstep for many of years & Petter Solberg was the driver of the car of my dreams at the time. Today is 10 years to the day that Petter Solberg won his first & only WRC title during that time he suffered times like (this) & often cried when being interviewed.

So like every dreamer I wanted to be like Petter Solberg & we did have one thing in common like Petter I flipped over a lower spec rally car I had (here) & can honestly say if it wasn't for my roof stopping to fold where my roll cage was I'd probably be headless right about now.

Petter only won the title once as the year later Sebastian Loeb started his 9 years of dominance with Citroen which has only just ended with Loeb's apprentice Sebastian Ogier taking this years title. Despite being won the WRC final stage is in North Wales next weekend & weather permitting I shall be stood under a tree in the cold watching.

This is what he does best (video).
