Optimism at its Best

So, a couple of months ago, while on holiday, I get a phone call from our piano teacher asking if we would like to have a piano for free. Knowing all too well this must be too good to be true I grilled him on the details. He said that the piano needed minor repairs, which he was very happy to make for us. The piano needed a new home as the garage it was housed in was due for demolition in less than a week. Since I was on holiday far away from home he was also perfectly happy to deliver the piano to our house, making sure to cover it up to protect it from rain. So what did I have to lose? The kids get a real piano to play instead of our electronic keyboard and it wouldn't cost me a cent.

He finally brought it over and stored it in our garage two weeks ago. Today is the first time he started to make those MINOR repairs. He didn't deliver it like it is pictured here, but, pretty darn close. Turns out, he needs to disassemble nearly every part, give it a terrific cleaning, change a few strings, replace a few keys, and it should be good to go. Right. I will blip it again if indeed it all goes back into to place and actually sounds good.
