Reaching over...
...the lake at Stourhead
Another great day with Lady Luck on our side once again! Awoke to heavy rain, but by the time we arrived in the Somerset market town of Frome, the rain had stopped and it stayed dry for the rest of the day.
A visit to the Farmers' Market for tasty fruit bread and plums, then a wander up St Catherine's Hill, browsing the great selection of shops selling arts and crafts, antiques and collectibles, designer clothing plus much more, and a café stop for a tasty lunch. St. Catherine's is the artisan quarter of Frome dating back to the 17th century, and on a visit to Frome the area is not to be missed, in fact it's worth a visit just for St. Catherine's.
In the afternoon, on to Stourhead, for a quick visit to the Palladian mansion to warm up in front of a roaring log fire, and then a walk around the world-famous landscape garden to blow the cobwebs away, and to admire the gorgeous Autumn colours.
"When Stourhead first opened in the 1740s, a magazine described it as ‘a living work of art’. The world-famous landscape garden has at its centrepiece a magnificent lake reflecting classical temples, mystical grottoes, and rare and exotic trees, and offers a day of fresh air and discovery." Some days I really struggle to find my blip, then other days (like today) I have so many shots that I find it really hard to choose just one!
