The Welsh Cave Dwalf

Early start today as a few of us headed over to the Scottish Dive Conference at Stirling University.
Had a great day listening to the talks and managed to catch up with one of my old instructors Martyn Farr. He was giving the last talk of the day and was there with his wife Helen.

The day started with a talk from Andy Torbet about his trip to the Antarctic to dive around icebergs with a BBC cameraman and some glaciologists. Very interesting and funny talk. Cemented the desire to dive in Antarctic.

Next up was Chris Jewell talking about his last expedition to Mexico to push further into one of the longest cave systems in the world. Very interesting.
This was followed by a demonstration on photo editing. Didn't learn much but confirmed the idea I had of converting from Aperture to Lightroom in the near future.

After lunch it was the Royal Navy Reserve divers. Not a great talk, just more going over what you have to go through to become a reservist. The job the Navy divers do seemed very interesting and it would have been a better talk if they had gone more into this.

After this was Garry Stewart from the RAF Search and Rescue helicopters. Great funny talk with some interesting tip on how to make yourself more visible to them should the worst ever happen. He also talked about what is going to happen in 2017 when the SAR service doesn't exist and it is taken over by a private contractor. He seems more confident that it will work out OK

The last talk of the day was by Martyn Farr talking about what he has been doing for the last year and the big cave dive which created the worlds longest cave system.
Came back and headed out to have a drink with Ian and the Spanish Slither. Good to catch up for a beer and put the world to right.
