In Memoriam

Armistice Day 2013. Seeing the various Remembrance Day photos prompted this.

My uncle, Willem Tosen, a South African volunteer, was killed at Chiusi Italy on 22 June 1944 while serving with South African forces forming part of the 6th Division. He was 22.

His grave is in the military cemetery at Foiano del Chiamo in Tuscany and just visiting was extremely emotional.

We should always be grateful for their sacrifice.
