Two more old buildings..
Leicester was originally a walled town similar to Chester & York. Many examples of this are still visible if you walk round.
The black 7 white building was once the Castle Gate, you walk under the opening to the left of the longer building into Castle Yard. The timbered end wall was once an internal partition { you can see the blocked in door on the 1st floor}. Both these buildings date to the 1400s.
The beautiful church of St.Mary de Castro dates back to 1107. Geoffrey Chaucer is believed to have been married there and Henry VI was knighted there in 1426.
