An alleyway in Kairouan.

In the souk of the ancient city of Kairouan. Founded in AD 671 Kairouan is a centre of learning and the fourth most holy city of Islam. For me, one of the many joys of the old cities are the wonderful and diverse doors and doorways leading into houses and courtyards. I could happily wonder these alleys for hours on end.
