branching out

Glanced at the weather forecast early this morning......  sunny with light wind.......  great, we'll go to Whinlatter Forest and have a really long walk.

I made sandwiches and assembled enough other nibbles to keep us going. It seemed duller driving towards Keswick but we carried on. Well, it was blowing a gale up in the forest. Made it to the first summit but there was no way I could have battled that headwind so it was a quick retreat down to shelter.

This photo was taken on the route down looking towards Skiddaw. I liked the horizontal layers with the vertical tree.

Back at the visitor centre for a cappuccino and II held my freezing hands around the cup to warm them up before drinking it!
