Red Berries

I work in the Science Prep Room of a large busy Secondary School. Around the edge of the buildings there is a high brick wall with gardens beyond. These striking red berries were hanging over the parapet behind our greenhouse from the garden of a house. The colours are very vibrant and almost look artificial. Having consulted the various books my mother and I have, I have not yet been able to identify what they are. I have narrowed them down to either a Pyracantha, or more likely a variety or species of Cotoneaster. Whatever they may be, I have not seen any quite like these in those thick tightly packed clusters before. The shape is like a hand minus two fingers creeping over the wall!
