Not the same

This is the old town house in old Aberdeen.
Not the same as the town house in Aberdeen.
In fact up until the 1800's Old Aberdeen was not part of Aberdeen.
Actually Aberdeen as a city is much older than Old Aberdeen, first being granted city status in the 1190 's.
So why is Old Aberdeen called thus?
