Timanfaya National Park 13k, 50m ascent.

After yesterday's long hard climb, we thought today's walk, with an ascent of only 50m would be easy. As you can see it wasn't - due to the terrain, volcanic rock and ash.
We began the day in the park centre with a very interesting, informative film about the volcanoes on the island. The bus then took us towards the coast. We walked along a lava path for about 2 hours before stopping for lunch on a cliff top viewpoint near Playa del Conchino. As you can see, it was very uncomfortable to sit upon. After lunch we returned to Playa del Paso then joined a dirt track - a welcome relief for the feet - down to El Golfo for refreshments before getting the private bus to Arricife.
In the evening we walked to a local restaurant for dinner, but unfortunately the food wasn't very good. Slept well.
